Michael Stillwell
Michael is the eldest son of 4 times Australian Gold Star Champion Bib Stillwell. Mike started his personal involvement in racing as a teenager competing in Go-Karts for several years.
In late 1968 Mike commenced his employment as an apprentice motor mechanic at the family's Ford Dealership. In 1970 he went overseas and spent the year working for the Brabham Racing Organisation in the UK, initially rebuilding Repco V8 Racing Engines then later in the production shop assembling Formula 2, Formula 3 and American Formula B single seater race cars. Mike also worked with the Formula 1 Team throughout the year and assisted with the assembly and running of a car for Jack Brabham at the Indianapolis 500.
Mike returned to Australia at end of 1970 and first raced in Formula Ford's early in 1971 when the Ford Dealership traded a Wren Formula Ford. Mike then joined the regular Stillwell Racing Division driver line up, and teamed with Larry Perkins for balance of 1971 season in the Elfin 600 FF team. Mike placed well by the year end and scored a couple of race wins to his credit. After the departure of driver/manager Graham Ritter from the team, Mike also took over driving the Stillwell Ford Escort BDA Touring Car for balance of 1971 season.
In 1972 the Stillwell Race Team built a new Twin Cam Escort for 1972 Touring Car Championship, which Mike drove for the year. Together they won the under 2.0 Litre Class and lead the outright championship for most of the season. Through the 1973 to 1975 years Mike drove a variety of cars including;
Elfin 622 F2 single seater and competedin 1973 Formula 2 championship.

Mike has been involved in many car clubs, and was the Inaugural President of Porsche Car Club, and rallied 911S ex works rally car throughout the early 70's. Mike has also served as a board member Light Car Club of Victoria and served on CAMS advisory panels and as a member of CAMS observer team for observed license tests.
After many years of absence from racing whilst balancing family commitments Mike has recommenced competitive motor sport. Over the past 5 years Mike has driven in and navigated in a variety of Grand Prix Rallies and Dutton Rallies. More recently Mike finished "1st Ford home" and 2nd overall to Peter Brock in the inaugural Ford Holden Challenge driving late model Ford Mustang in 2004.
Mike has recently finished building a 1972 BMW 3.0CSL Coupe as a Tarmac Rally Car and has competed in teh 2004 Rally Tasmania and Classic Adelaide.
