Phillip Showers

Phillip started going to race tracks with his father at a very young age.  This progressed into a passion for motorsport, which led Phillip to pit crew for friends before he was able to drive.

Philip started to compete in sprints in 1983.  Competing in Club sprints, he had numerous round wins driving his 1300cc Escort.   Following this, Phillip  fitted a two litre engine to the Escort.

In 1986 he joined Victorian Road Registered Racing Association (now called Improved Production Racing)  and continued to clock up the class and round wins.

Over the past 12 years Phillip has competed at Winton in many 6 and 12 hour relay races.  In 1993 Phillip competed in the Sandown 6 hour race in the Production Car class driving a Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Turbo.  Unfortunately his race was shortened by engine failure whilst he was running 7th outright.  Also in 1993 Phillip qualified at Bathurst in the 12hr Production Car race, and again was defeated by engine failure.

Phillip has held the position of Chief Scrutineer for both the BMW Car Club of Victoria,  BM Motorsport Register, and more recently he has taken the position of Technical Officer for the E30 Racing group.

Phillip was the BM Motorsport registers' first championship winner in 1999, driving a BMW 2.8 litre Z3 roadster.  More recently Phillip has competed in The Grand Prix Rally (once in a BMW M535i) and Improved Production Car class in his E30 BMW 325.  His 2002 season in the E30 series came to an abrupt end at Phillip Island during an accident.  Prior to this out of a field of 65, Phillip won Improved Production Cars best presented car at Sandown,

More recently Phillip was part of the third place team at the 2002 Winton 6 Hour Relay Race.

In 2004 sporting a brand new BMW E30, Phillip competed in Rally Tasmania, Rally Burnie and E30 Racing within the Improved Production car competition.
